Business, Friends, Thanksgiving & Unexpected Life Events

Bit of a random video blog today – on the border between Hong Kong and China as per usual – and there is this USA holiday called thanksgiving that just passed. I think it isn’t just the holiday, but also the fact that another year is coming to an end and a new year is coming. Combined with the colder weather – think that always gets us to spend more time indoors and reflecting and thinking.
So this combination has me as well as many others around me, thinking. What was good this past year, what are we planning to do the following year? For me, my life, and my business are pretty well forged together. This video blog is actually posted in China under the same Global From Asia social media account (in the West I separate my personal video blog from the Global From Asia blog) – but in many ways – it may as well be combined here too.
I feel in today’s social media dominated world, we have to be our business. While a lot of us worry about being able to sell the business later, I feel that can be sorted out when the time comes, or at least once things start to roll.
How about your Thanksgiving? For me – it was hot pot in China! At my house my amazing wife ordered a delivery of ready to go hot pot – pot and all. My buddy Dave and Cindy came over and it was a simple and enjoyable evening. Isn’t that what Thanksgiving is all about?
And then the next day, a friend close to me let me know he is in stage 3 of liver cancer and doctors are having him prepare for his death. Jeez, he is an American in Asia like me – also with 2 kids. The thoughts running through his head must be intense and the discussions he has to have with people as he prepares, one can only imagine. I setup a simple donation page for him on the blog here mikesblog.com/cancer as he needs to raise money to ensure his kids are treated well once they relocate from Asia to America after his passing, insane.
Life goes by so fast, we need to be thankful for each day we have on this Earth. Isn’t that what Thanksgiving is all about.
